We are learning lots of sight words in Kindergarten! We are reading and writing using our sight words and stretching out our sounds to make words that we don't know. Have your child read to you daily. Let your child find sight words on cereal boxes, in newspapers and magazines. Let them circle the words with a crayon. They will have a lot of fun while they are learning. On cold rainy days let them write sight words and sentences with shaving cream. Spread a little shaving cream ( about 1/4 a cup) on a section of a table or counter. Smooth it out like it is a large piece of paper. Let your child write and draw in the shaving cream. This is a fun way to practice writing and reading sight words and writing sentences with sight words.
We are also learning about holiday traditions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid and New Years. Talk about family traditions that your family does each year. | |
